Well, it's been a while since I last put a post up here.
hugs to all.
As those of you who watch me and mine with interest, you'll know that Sierra and I are now promised. Not quite an engagement, but more than simply going out. To signify this, I gave her a ring with an Sapphire stone (september Birthstonme as well as the 5 year anniversary stone) with 5 small round brilliant diamonds on each side - 10 in total. the band is only about a millimetere and a half wide (tops) so as you can guess, the diamonds are quite tiny. But they are very shiney. The band itself is of white gold... and all in all - I'm quite proud of it.
In other news, I'm currently working at the Edinburgh City Council and having a blast. Had a priceless moment on Thursday - spoke to a couple of the ladies that I work with and mentioned in passing that it was my last week.
No, that's not quite right.
I asked them if they preferred chocolate cake or scones. When I asked why, I said that I'd been given no word official word that I was to be retained for more time. I'd had lots of unofficial (as well they knew, these two ladies were the ones doing the telling), but nothing official.
The expressions on their faces was priceless, even more so with the fact of I'd been saying as much for the entire week. It turns out that the department head is a sea-boss (Flies in, makes a flap, craps on everything and leaves), the team leader is a lot better however.
Anyways - the ladies went and spoke to both blokes... and they nearly had a heart attack. I've been highly efficient, they all want me as long as possible.... and both had thought that the OTHER had told me I was to stay as long as I wanted.
heh.
Talking on Friday, the ladies and I agreed we should have waited until Friday until I turned up with the cake... and then told them. *sniggers*
What else... Oh yeah - Sierra's arrival. What a shambles that was. I head into the airport at 10am (stopping for a haircut) and get there a shade after the flight was due (it had been delayed)... but there was no Sierra. Ok... maybe I got the wrong flight or maybe it's still processing.
1 and a half hours later, nope. That was it alright. So understandably, I'm starting to panic slightly. The people at BA couldn't help me, they weren't allowed to say if she had been on the flight at all. Then I decide to check my e-mail. Ok, so she's been delayed - the flight didn't leave JFK for a good 4 hours. I could relax. I knew she was on the flight - the e-mail said "Whoops! Boarding call!" (a routed text via her mum) and BA did confirm that this flight had arrived. The said she could be on the 4:50pm arriving flight.
But to really make sure that I didn't miss her, I was there for the 3:50 arriving flight as well.... armed with roses now.
No Sierra.
4:50 - No Sierra.
Getting a shade worried again, I call her dad and mum (seperate calls BTW) and query if they have any more info.
Nope.
5:30 No Sierra.
6:15 No Sierra
At this point, I'm damn well prepared to camp out in the airportuntil they physically drag me outside, and even then - I'm going to sleep in the airport doorway.
6:50.... SIERRA!!!!!
And the rest is in her LJ of why she was late.
Her first words to me "I'm Done. Get me food, Get me home."
And so I did.
What else? Got a half day yesterday, but it rained for the first time since she arrived so we didn't see all I wanted to show her, went out for a nice meal on wednesday night (Sierra asked about Haggis, Neeps and tatties - I'm going to get her to try it... somehow...) and all in all, we've been enjoying ourselves. She does miss Morgan - this is the longest the two have been apart.
And I can understand that.
But it is so nice having her here.
