I've joined a protest against a somewhat insane law being drafted in NZ that, while good intentioned, leaves things open for abuse.
Here is the long form of it.
The short of it is the right of an ISP to ban someone after receiving a compliant from a copyright holder. Simple right? Well there is no penalty for a false or malicious accusation and the complainant merely needs to advise that they THINK that person has breached copyright.
Yeah - like that's not going to be abused. Even one of the major ISP's thinks the law is daft (Telstraclear for the record)
